This is the most anticipated fight in boxing and fans are salivating at the prospect of these two meeting in the ring. Boxing fans have been wanting to see somebody that is willing to step up and face Golovkin, who has issued open challenges to everyone from Andre Ward to Floyd Mayweather.
The bookies have Golovkin as a clear favorite over Canelo, which is due in large part to the size advantage Golovkin will have. GGG routinely weighs in at the 160lbs middleweight limit, and walks around much heavier. Canelo holds a middleweight title but has has never actually fought at 160lbs, with the the heaviest he weighed-in at being 155lbs.
The advantage Canelo has is that Golovkin’s style matches up with well with his own, and the Mexican fighter will surely land some eye-catching combination on GGG, who has shown he can be hit. But, will Canelo be able to stand up to the thudding power of Golovkin when they exchange?
Both fighters are expected to have a tuneup fight before the showdown which promoters are saying will happen some time in late 2016. Be sure to check out our boxing predictions page closer to the fight to see our pick.
