When this fight was first being negotiated back in 2016, the bookies had tentatively offered odds with Golovkin at (-350). Since then, a few things have changed and Golovkin is no longer seen as such a clear favorite.

Firstly, in last last fight against Daniel Jacobs, Golovkin showed signs that he isn't an unstoppable wrecking machine and is capable of having an off-night where he doesn't completely bludgeon his opponent into submission.

Secondly, since the beginning of 2016, Canelo has scored two impressive knockouts of Amir Khan and Liam Smith to go along with his lopsided win against Chavez Jr. Although he was hardly tested by Chavez, we saw Canelo with a more muscular build and he looked completely different than when he stepped in the ring to fight Floyd Mayweather at 152 lbs.

The advantage Canelo has is that Golovkin's style matches up with well with his own, and the Mexican fighter will surely land some eye-catching combinations on GGG, who has shown he can be hit. But, will Canelo be able to stand up to the thudding power of Golovkin when they exchange?
