Although most boxing fans have probably never heard of Patrick Teixeira, he is the betting favorite according to Oddsmakers. Standing at 5’11”, the undefeated Teixeira will have a definitive height and reach advantage over the shorter Stevens.
Teixeira is a hard-hitter from Brazil that has finished 22 of his 26 wins via knockout. All of those wins have been over lesser competition, the most notable being a stoppage of Don Mouton.
However, Teixeira was rocked in that fight by Mouton and was forced to go into ‘survival mode’ for the better part of a round. Logic would dictate that a knockout artist like Stevens could do the same if he landed cleanly.
Stevens is coming off a 1 1/2 year layoff, and he will need to hurt Teixeira early if he wants to win, because he does not want to go into deep waters with an active fighter when he is coming off such a long stretch away from the ring.
