Betting odds at Bovada have Alvarez as the (-400) favorite with Pascal as a (+300) underdog.

After beating Lucian Bute, Eleider Alvarez is currently the most promising fighter out of Canada. If Alvarez gets past Pascal, he is expected to be matched up with Adonis Stevenson for what would be the biggest fight in Canadian boxing right now.

Pascal defeated Lucian Bute himself back in 2014, although the unanimous decision victory was not quite as impressive as when Alvarez kayoed him. Since then, however, Pascal has gone 2-21 and did not look good in the process.

Pascal suffered two lopsided knockout losses to Sergey Kovalev, and many boxing fans think he was lucky to get the nod in his decision win over Yunieski Gonzalez. At 34 years of age, we will see how much fight Pascal still has left this weekend.

Alvarez is currently with Marc Ramsay, who was the longtime trainer of Jean Pascal until the two split back in 2015. Although Alvarez is nearly the same age as Pascal, he has taken significantly less wear in the ring throughout his career and that is one major reason he is seen as the betting favorite.

Oddsmakers opened this fight with Alvarez as high as (-600). Those odds have dropped off a bit with the average being (-400) and as low as (-266) at Canadian bookie Sports Interaction.

Alvarez is the superior technician and holds a height and reach advantage over Pascal. In the past, Pascal has relied more on his athleticism than on boxing skill. However, at this stage of his career he may have lost a step and that may prove the difference against a top class fighter like Alvarez.

Prediction: Bet on Eleider Alvarez
