With Erickson Lubin recently being named a mandatory for Charlo's belt, many are looking towards that fight and looking past Charlo's next opponent, Charles Hatley.
Both fighters are from Texas where they cut their teeth on the amateur circuit. Hatley hails from Dallas and there is rivalry being played up with Charlo, who represents Houston.
Boxing fans might remember Hatley from his last fight where he upset Anthony Mundine in Australia. That fight was well over a year ago, however, and the long layoff could be an issue for Hatley.
When you look at Jermell Charlo, the first thing that you think of is his technical boxing skill, which he used to confound Gabe Rosado and score a lopsided victory. Charlo has also recently shown off his power with in his last fight.
When you look at the lone loss on Hatley's record, it was a first round KO loss to Lanardo Tyner. When you consider that Hatley will have ring rust due to the layoff, there is a chance that Charlo can catch him cold in the first round, as well.
