Matthysse’s split with ‘advisor’ Al Haymon resulted in him getting the fights he wanted against tough competition. His last win over Ruslan Provodnikov was a war and ‘fight of the year’ candidate that boxing fans universally appreciated.
Now, Matthysse is position for a title against Ukraine’s Viktor Postol, who is undefeated with a 27-0 record. Postol made his American debut against Selcuk Aydin on the JMM vs Alvarado undercard, and won via 11th round KO.
Although Postol won his last fight via stoppage, he only has 11 KO’s on his record and is not known for his power. It is unlikely that Postol gets involved in a war against Matthysse, and will probably use his boxing skills to avoid the heavy handed slugger.
