Not many in the boxing world were aware of Julius Indongo until the rangy southpaw from Namibia made his presence known to fans in the UK after he beat Ricky Burns this past April in Glasgow. It was a dominating performance that was more impressive than Crawford's 2014 win over Burns.
Even so, the Oddsmakers are not giving Indongo much of a chance and have Crawford as the considerable 16-to-1 betting favorite. This is understandable considering that Crawford has made his work look easy since winning his first world title off Ricky Burns. This includes 6 stoppage wins over quality fighters like Yuriorkis Gamboa, and a one-sided beating of the skilled Viktor Postol, who is comparable to Indongo in terms of height and reach.
Indongo is far less experienced when compared with Crawford, and he will be making his American debut in a hornet's nest when he visits Terence Crawford in his home state of Nebraska.
The major question mark for Crawford in this fight is how he will handle the reach from the southpaw stance that Indongo will bring, considering the only other southpaw he faced was the 5'5" Felix Diaz. However, Crawford is a master of switching stances himself, and was able to neutralize the attack of Diaz by switching to lefty and should be able to do the same with Indongo.
Prediction: Crawford by KO or wide unanimous decision
