Marcos Villasana scored an upset as he beat 4-to-1 betting favorite Jose Felix Jr.via 9th round TKO.
Villasana Jr. came in this fight with a measure of confidence and imposed his will from the early going as he pressured Jose Felix Jr. against the ropes. He sent Felix Jr. to the canvas in round number 4, and then the ref waved the fight off in the 9th round as Felix was absorbing punishment against the ropes.
The win for Villasana Jr. comes as somewhat of a surprise to boxing fans, due to the fact that he was coming off over a year-long layoff to face a dangerous fighter like Felix Jr. Although, boxing gamblers showed support for Villasana which caused the betting odds to drop.
This was the first stoppage loss fo Felix Jr.'s career and it makes you question whether he has fully recovered from the devastating loss to Jonathan Maicelo and whether he will be able the same fighter he once was.
