Mikey Garcia returned to the boxing ring with a bang as he flattened Dejan Zlaticanin in a very impressive third round KO win.
Although Mikey Garcia was forced to sit on the sidelines for over two years while ironing out a contract dispute, he showed no signs of rust in his win over Dejan Zlaticanin.
Garcia was a small favorite according to Vegas odds though he made it look like a mismatch. Garcia completely controlled the fight from the outset, using jab and a mastery of range which left the aggressive Zlaticanin moving forward and swinging at air.
It was in the third round when Garcia ended the fight after landing a right uppercut that appeared to have Zlaticanin severely stunned, and then followed up with a straight right hand that left him prone on the canvas while boxing fans collectively held their breath in hopes that he would be alright.
This was a very impressive knockout due to the fact that Zlaticanin has never been stopped — let alone hurt — in his 18 previous fights. As the new WBC lightweight title holder, Garcia has shown interest in fighting the winner of the rematch between Linares and Crolla.
