Keith Thurman beats Shawn Porter via unanimous decision in an epic battle on CBS that will surely be a ‘Fight of the Year’ candidate for 2016.
It was the crisp punching of Keith Thurman versus the relentless pressure attack of Shawn Porter. Relentless is best way to describe it because Porter ate some heavy punches as he tried to get on the inside and do damage.
As predicted, Thurman was landing his left hook at will and wobbled Porter on numerous occasions during the fight. But, Porter showed a granite chin on this night as he walked through some hellacious shots that would have dropped most fighters. (Porter is the first fighter that Thurman has failed to knock down).
When Porter did manage to get on the inside, Thurman opted to trade with Porter instead of clinching like Kell Brook, which resulted in some great action that brought the Barclays Center crowd to their feet.
The judges all saw it 115-113 in favor of Thurman and the scorecard can be seen here.
